Hello Friends!

We enjoyed a very festive afternoon at our Light the Night Festival here at the barn recently. We all, including the animals, had so much fun celebrating the wonderful beauty that our friends and family bring into our lives all year long. Plenty of festive ornaments were made and hung on the tree, popcorn and cranberries were strung (and maybe some got eaten along the way too), and we enjoyed yummy vegan treats by the bonfire. There was a lot of laughter and many loving memories were made as we lit the various lights of the holiday season. It truly was a time to remember!

CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS: We are very happy to announce that on January 18th we will be taking the goats to Science Night at our partnering school to tell them all about our amazing animals and our mission. The third graders are learning about mammals in school, so this is one more way we can help to educate the kiddos about kind and compassionate action towards all animals. To say that the goats are thrilled for this field trip and their first day at school would be an understatement! It’s all the rage at the barn and really all they can talk about. We are in need of volunteers to help us transport and care for the goats that night from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm. If you would like to be a “goat chaperone” for the evening, please go HERE for more information, to inquire or to sign up. It’s really hard not to have fun with these little guys, plus you will get to meet some really great children too!

Still looking for the perfect gift for someone (or yourself) this holiday season? Looking for a gift that will also make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside too? Look no further! Currently, Colorado is experiencing a hay shortage and it has become quite a crisis. With the wind storms, hail storms, and the very dry weather, a lot of growers are running out of hay. Our supplier had to cut us off because he didn’t have enough for his own animals. It really has become quite dire and we are all in a bit of a panic at the barn. We have had to pull from the majority of our bank account to pay a premium for available hay to ensure we will have enough to get us through a few months. We are desperately hoping to generate enough money soon to buy a couple more months worth to help us get to the first cutting of hay at the end of May. Any and all donations are welcome and met with more gratitude than we could ever put into words. All donations can be made HERE. Thank you in advance for your generosity!

That is all for now. Look for many exciting things to come in 2018! Whichever holiday you celebrate during this beautiful season, we hope it is a truly happy and memorable one. From all of us at the barn, Happy Holidays to you and yours!
